Since the beginning of his career, Jacob TV has rebelled against the “washed-out avant garde”, making him a controversial figure on the contemporary classical scene. He strives to liberate new music from its isolation by employing a direct - at times provocative - idiom that spurns the dissonant in favor of mellifluous tonality spiked with sound bites from talk shows and televangelists and made visible by VJ collaborations forming a colorful mixture of high and trash culture. The Dutch “Avant Pop” composer’s works were showcased in 2001 and 2007 at a 4-day Jacob TV Festival in Rotterdam and a 3-day Jacob TV Festival at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York.

The JacobTV Band  consists of 4 horns, harp, bass and drums and will perform the new video speech opera  CITIES CHANGE THE SONGS OF BIRDS based on original soundbytes from  people who try to survive on the fringe of society: inmates, homeless, drug addicts and prostitutes.
